Paddle Mixer
A paddle mixer uses one or more horizontal shafts fitted with flat or pitched paddle agitators. The paddles rotate through the material, lifting it and moving it in controlled directions to create convective mixing throughout the vessel.
Unlike ribbon agitators, which create continuous counter-flow along the length of the vessel, paddles create a more localized lifting and folding action — producing a gentler, less directional mixing motion that is well suited for materials that are sticky, prone to segregation, or cannot tolerate the counter-flow forces of a ribbon agitator.
QUICK PROPACK also supplies combination ribbon-and-paddle agitators — a central shaft with both helical ribbons and paddle elements — providing the bulk material movement of a ribbon with the lifting and folding action of paddles.
This combination is particularly effective for semi-cohesive or sticky materials, where ribbon agitators alone may not achieve adequate mixing.
Best For
- Sticky or cohesive materials that clump around ribbon agitators
- Materials prone to segregation under strong counter-flow forces
- Semi-cohesive powders requiring gentle folding action
- Applications where ribbon-and-paddle combination provides optimal performance
Industries
Food processing (sticky seasonings, moist blends), pharmaceutical (semi-cohesive excipient blends), chemical (tacky polymer compounds), agriculture (moist feed premixes), cosmetics (semi-cohesive powder blends).
