Material Grades - Complete Guide (industrial mixer materials of construction)

Our industrial mixer materials of construction are manufactured in compliance with recognized international material standards, ensuring excellent durability, corrosion resistance, hygienic performance, and long-term reliability across food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial processing applications.

GradeMolybdenumProperties & best applications
SS304 (frame)NoneStructural frame on all standard builds. Good general corrosion resistance. Not suitable for product-contact in food or pharmaceutical applications.
SS316 (contact parts)2–3%Standard on ALL product-contact parts. Superior chloride and acid resistance. FDA, USDA, GMP, USP Class VI compliant. Standard on every in-stock QUICK PROPACK unit.
Full SS316L (upgrade)2–3%Low-carbon — better weld integrity, no sensitization risk. GMP pharmaceutical requiring full-vessel material certification. Available as upgrade on all models.
SS317L critical zones (upgrade)3–4%Maximum corrosion resistance. Aggressive pharmaceutical solvents, concentrated acids where SS316L shows measurable corrosion. Contact our team.
Carbon steel (upgrade)NoneHeavy-duty mining, construction, agriculture. Non-food, non-pharmaceutical applications. Maximum abrasion resistance.
Hastelloy C-276 (special order)16%Exceptional resistance to oxidizing and reducing acids. Where all stainless steels are insufficient. Special order — contact our technical team.

* Batch weight based on ~50 lbs/cu ft bulk density at 50% loading. Actual batch weight varies significantly by material. Always provide your material's bulk density for accurate sizing.

How to Calculate the Right Mixer Size for Your Batch Weight

Formula:

Required mixer size (cu ft) = Batch weight (lbs) ÷ Bulk density (lbs/cu ft) ÷ Loading ratio (0.40 to 0.70)

Example: 3,000 lbs of spice blend ÷ 38 lbs/cu ft bulk density ÷ 0.55 loading ratio = 143 cu ft → Select the 150 cu ft model.

Not sure about your material's bulk density or the right loading ratio? Contact our team — we help you size the correct mixer for your exact batch weight requirement before you order. +1 (216) 329-3298 | office@quickpropack.com

Mixer Selection Guide - How to Choose the Right Industrial Mixer

Choosing the right industrial mixer requires answering six key questions about your material, your process, and your facility. Work through these criteria before contacting our team.

Criterion 1 — What type of material are you mixing?

Criterion 2 — What batch size do you need?

Formula: Required mixer size (cu ft) = Batch weight (lbs) ÷ Bulk density (lbs/cu ft) ÷ Loading ratio (0.40–0.70) your paragraph here

Criterion 3 — How sensitive is your material to shear?

Criterion 4 — Do you need to add liquids during mixing?

Criterion 5 — What are your cleaning and compliance requirements?

Criterion 6 — Do you need temperature control during mixing?
