Double Shaft Paddle Mixer
A double shaft paddle mixer uses two parallel horizontal shafts mounted side by side in a twin-trough vessel, each carrying a set of paddle agitators.
The two shafts counter-rotate toward each other at the top — creating a combined mixing zone between the shafts where material from both sides of the vessel meets simultaneously.
The counter-rotation creates a unique weightless mixing zone at the intersection of the two shafts, where the centrifugal forces from both rotating shafts are equal and opposite — temporarily neutralizing gravity and allowing materials of widely different bulk densities and particle sizes to blend uniformly.
The double shaft paddle mixer achieves extremely fast, thorough mixing — often completing batches in 30 to 60 seconds for optimal materials — at high loading ratios of up to 90% of vessel volume.
This combination of speed and high loading ratio makes it the preferred mixer for high-volume animal feed production, large-scale food processing, and any application where batch cycle time and throughput are the primary production constraints.
Best For
- High-volume production where maximum throughput and shortest batch times are priorities
- Materials with wide density or particle size differences that segregate in ribbon mixers
- Animal feed production — fastest commercial feed mixer available
- Large-scale food ingredient and dry blend production
Industries
Animal feed and pet food production, large-scale food processing, fertilizer blending, construction material production, chemical processing, agricultural premix production.
